Party like a rock star!

So this last week was a hot one! I was in St Petersburg and had a hotel....ok it was a beach resort...on the beach!!!

I have been working on the clap but so far no pictures. If I can say so myself it is looking pretty good. I am on the middle section. BUT I just started it.

TOMORROW I am going to go see HARRY POTTER!!! EEEEEE I am finishing up reading book 5 before it. Since I worked all last week I didn't think it was to much of a rush to finish.

Off to knit and read!

Happy 4th of July!

Cute little site a coworker sent me :)

http://www.njagyouth.org/liberty.htm

Update for today : I cleaned got some (not much) laundry done today. I have been working on my harry potter sock (I am on the foot of the second one now!!!). Kelly called me asking if I wanted her to pick me up some yarn for my Clap. We saw Julie using Mircospun to make her Clap and it was AWESOME! Hopefully mine would look that good. Josh took me outside tonight to watch him light fireworks. I took lots of video of that and soon will upload it to my photo album later this week.

You Are the Middle Finger

A bit fragile and dependent on your friends, you're not nearly as hostile as you seem.
You are balanced, easy to get along with, and quite serious.
However, you can get angry and fed up with those around you. And you aren't afraid to show it!

all about afghans...

I am known for starting projects and then getting bored with them after a while. They why do I like starting big projects like blankets. Let me just say I started these before I really knew about other yarns outside of Walmart and Michael's.

I know I have mentioned the blanket my mom made for me when I was younger. She made one for my brother and my sister as well. I couldn't decide on what colors I wanted so she made it rainbow and VERY bright. It is made out of Red Heart.
Crochet blanket

This is the first project I started on after I re picked up crocheting. This was also the first pattern I EVER tried. It took me a long time and a lot of help from Stephanie to get the pattern from curling on itself (I think I kept decreasing stitches somehow) My mom liked how this was turning out so well she took it over from me. I have yet to start working on this blanket since.
Crochet blanket

This is the Kittens in a Row. I started this blanket when my mom took the above blanket from me to work on it. I got the pattern from one of my books, however it is found online as well. It is made from simply soft.
Crochet blanket

Here is the fisherman's throw I started. It is out of Caron's one pound in soft sage. I saw this color in the store and was all ooo that is pretty *yank* Now I can not even stand to look at this color. I need to make a lot more squares to make it a decent size. These are the few squares that I have put together.
Crochet blanket

I saw this pattern in one of my books and I really liked it. It is made out of red heart. The colors make it look like fourth of july and not christmas.
Crochet blanket

To reassure you I have finished some projects but these are my big ones that have been hanging out for a while.

heh

*blush* well you see I guess it was just turned off. So well it is working now. *sigh of relief* Now I can go around and take pictures of my UFOS

*Biting lip*

Sooo yesterday we noticed on my camera (Cannon Powershot S1IS) that the LCD display wasnt working. The battery was almost dead so I figured that was the problem...After recharging the batteries it still inst working. I am off to do some recon.

OMG Stephanie you are a GENIUS....no I hadnt thought of that cuz I can tend to be a little slow on these long months LOL :(

Ok but this is a little funny cuz there is NO WAY that I would be able to do anything like that....let along walk and chew gum...
I got into work this morning and went to fill my nalgene up in the break room. The tables were rearranged and there were board games out on it. My first thought was hey maybe they don't want us to work today....just play games. I get back to my desk say something to a coworker about it. They asked me have you looked at your email....well no I hadn't. I Start up the ole puter and login. There is was an email stating their reasoning behind all of the board games.

LUNCHTIME!

Josh made me my sandwich today. Nothing too big just a Pb&J. I thought it was sweet. I didn't have to persuade him or anything of that sort. I saw him wrapping it in Al foil and I figured he didn't know where the bags were so I just finished getting ready. When I got to work Bridget and I had a good laugh about how he foiled and bagged my sandwich. Yeah it was cute. So I put it off to the side. My tummy started to grumble and I reached for the Pb&J. I took it out of the bag, unwrapped the HUGE sheet of foil, and the sandwich was suran wrapped....yes he did.

Still cute though
Seeing that everyone else is posting their house and I was not able to post my results (blogger just doesn't like any of the codes that I copy in. I am not sure what is wrong with it but there has to be since I get linked to the quizzes from other people.)

Well anyways it said that I belonged in Gryffindor. For a full reading see Kelly's blog!!

Thought I would give everyone a quick update. I am still alive!! YAY

I am currently trying to decide what purse I am going to make for the summer KAL/CAL along. There are a few I might try. I am going to use some of my *shudder* red heart on one to attempt to get rid of it!

I am on the foot of my monkey sock. I was SO happy I finished the gusset last night I did not want to go to bed. I have a few more pattern repeats to do. Hopefully I can get that punched out this week. I will take a picture hopefully later this week with the progress of it.

I have been informed by Kelly that I need to put the monkeys aside and work on the harry potter socks for the movie/book release! So I hope to start that soon seeing she is persuading me with yarn that she gave me for it.

recapping

This past Saturday was the WWKIP Day (please see Kelly's WWKIP Day Update). It was great we had a great turn out..about 15 people. We met a bunch of new people and had a few of them join us for out weekly sunday knitting group. Kelly finished her monkey socks on sunday.....I started mine over a month ago and she started hers this last week. It doesn't seem fair that I am still working on mine. It is ok I guess I can't really knit while I drive to my work sites...oh how nice that would be.

This last week I got my SP10 package! OMG it was great. The chocolate is gone. I took it with me to the WWKIP Day and forgot about it. I thought it would be a nice little treat to share figuring we would only have a few people there. Well I got all caught up in everything and forgot I threw it in my bag. The next day at knitting I was getting something out of my bag and came across it, slightly melted. We let it re solidify before we tore into it.....mmm so good. We also fondled the lovely yarn. It is wool in shades of greens...eeee...Now I just have to figure out what I want to make with it!!! There were also 2 candles, a berry one and a cookie one and also 3 things of perfume. One of Josh's friends was over when I got the package and I made him and Josh smell everything as I had it sprawled out all over the floor. It was an awesome day!

At work this week I got the wonderful assignment of overseeing septic tank removal. I was expecting it to be pretty nasty. I was happily surprised when it wasn't that bad. The worst part was when the septic truck was there emptying the tanks. I learnt a few things about septic tanks...for example, the septic tank is full when they install it and if you use 30 gallons of water it enters the tank and 30 gallons will leave the tank. EWWW I had a septic tank and I never knew that!

On sunday when I was at the local Walmart picking up random items (like cheap flip flops) I paid and was walking out and noticed a guy sitting in a wheelchair with blood on his head. I walked by processing this and stopped at the greeter and asked if this guy was ok. The greeter responded with I guess so he wanted to sit down...uhh ok. So I walk over to the guy and ask if he is ok and he said he was really tired and need to sit down. I then asked him if he knew he had blood on his head. He was shocked and was all oh no! I asked if he wanted me to help clean it up and he agreed (good thing I am first aid trained!!!) So I went in search of the Walmart first aid kit. I head to the most reasonable place it would be located at, the customer service desk. There was of coarse a line and the lady had a phone glued to her ear. I go straight to the front and ask for their first aid kit. Her response was I don't have one here I think it is up front. So I go over there and ask one of the cashiers. Her response is it is over in sporting goods. I give her this look and said No your first aid kit. There is a guy over there with blood on his head... So she trots off to ask another person. The PIC goes over to the customer service desk and brings out a small first aid kit and opens it with me and says this is all we have. There was a few Q tips and a handful of iodine packets. I look at her and said is that it. I know I had a tone in my voice too. She just stared blankly at me and I said Well I think you should get a decent first aid kit with stuff in it like gloves and maybe band aids. So I go back to the gentlemen and said I will brb I am going to get the first aid kit out of my car. I run out there and get it come back and start cleaning him up and talking. Asking if he has any past medical history. Well he has cancer and is on blood thinners. He had chemo the next day as well. So I was asking if he needed to get a hold of anyone, or his doctor. He said he was ok. Just needed to rest. So I did as much as I could offered him a water and he said no. And I left to get ready for knitting group.
(Sorry If I told you this story already...I know it is long)
The point of the story is maybe it is just my Walmart, since it is really ghetto, maybe not BUT they should have a more decent first aid kit. Makes me wonder if the other safety precautions are kept up.

Ok enough ranting....Time for dinner and bed (and maybe a bit more on the monkey socks!)

7 random things

Kelly tagged me with the 7 random things post.....the hard part will only be picking out 7 items seeing I am quite random. Here it goes:

1. When my mother was prego with me she also had a tumor in the womb. It grew at the same rate as me and I have since referred to it as my "twin" All of the doctors that my mom went to told her to abort me. However, as you can see now, she would not. She did find a doctor and he made her sign pages after pages saying that when the time came down to it if the tumor came first then the doctors would save me and not my mom. Luckily that was not the case. But it took a lot out of her and she was unable to really do anything but lay in bed the first few months I was born. My sister and dad had to take care of me mainly.

2. I was born without a hip socket. My family had to do exercises with my leg to create one. When the weather changes my hip will hurt.

3. I technically have 3 sibling. Two brothers and one sister. The oldest, Micheal Ray, is dead. He died many many years before I was even thought about. He died when his head hit the glove box in a car accident. My brother Kevin is living in HI he is almost 40 and has a whole bussell of kids. My sister, Johanna, is 33 and living in TN with three kids. I grew up with having her husband, Don, around a lot more than my brother. He normally gets thrown into my brother category.

4. I have never had a hangover. I have woken up drunk the next day and I have thrown up both the same night as well as the next. After I throw up I am perfectly fine. (ie my wendys story)

5. I was hired for my first "big girl" job (meaning I don't work hourly and there is plenty of room for growth) weeks before I graduated from college and it is even what I went to school for! Also it was also my first real job interview.

6. I am naturally a shy and very quiet person. As a kid my mom would take me to the store and forget I was there because I was so quiet. I have also gotten lost on a beach when I was 7. I wandered very far down the beach passing a few life guard stations until there was a crowd of people around one listen to a life guard talk (he was cute btw) so I stopped and he saw me came down and tried to talk to me. Since I was shy I would not say a word. I just stood there. After a while my parents found me (they thought I was with my sister but my sister wanted to go swimming with her friends so she sent me to the RV so I wouldn't get lost.....) Well I never talked to that lifeguard. The last few years I have worked very hard to try to get out of that mold. At times when I am with all new people I will go back to that quiet state.

7. I am deathly afraid of heights and roller coaster and bugs freak the crap out of me. I have been on two roller coasters and I hated both of them. I am not afraid of flying it is when you get up on a cliff and look down and the wind starts blowing. I just don't like that. I was slowing trying to get out of that funk. For the bugs....the more legs they have the worse it is. I can deal will some bugs like fire flys, lady bugs, box elder bugs, and love bugs to name a few....but most other freak me out...some spiders too.

Other random facts....
  • I scream like a girl...like the high ahhhh!
  • I hate strawberries, real cherries, and coconut, but I love strawberry and coconut flavoring and the cherries soaked in sugar and dye.
  • growing up every four years we moved
  • I hate ironing
  • I don't make my bed unless I know people are coming over
  • I do not have a green thumb. I am shocked that the 4 plants I have in the house are alive
  • I am bad about going to the post office to mail stuff....I normally send someone else to do it
  • I have only quit one job because I did not like it
  • I try to be easy to get along with but once you piss me off I will put up with you but not be social
  • If you are family or friend and I get upset just wait 5 mins and let me be pissed off...leave the room and I will be more reasonable and a lot happier
  • One of the few words of wisdom a stranger told me is no one really cares if you are happy or not so when someone asks you how you are you just say great
  • The other words of wisdom a stranger told me is no one likes to hang around sad and moppy people. If you want to have a lot of friends then you have to at least act happy.

Ok I think that is it for now. I have a lot of other random facts about me but I havent gone grocery shopping in a week and it needs to be done!

Dogs don't like apples

So last night was knitting night (please see Kelly's Blog about this) Kelly got all of the pictures since I left my camera cord at the office.

I ended up downloading Skype today as well (name is knitsnbits)

Well I made my favorite apple dip for the knitting group. It is cream cheese, brown sugar, vanilla, and chopped peanuts. You dip slices of apples (dipped in lemon juice) into the dip. yum

I can not remember if I have mentioned this already or not but I have restarted the boyfriend blanket. I have decided I am not going to use the colors that he has picked out (black and dark blue). I was attempting to make a blanket out of those horrible colors. After almost a year and a half I have given up on that dream. I have a light blue and a dark/country blue yarn which I have restarted his blanket. I have decided to do the mitered square pattern.

I have taken a picture of the progress so far (2 squares), however, I have left my transfer cable for my camera at work attached to my computer. So pictures will not be uploaded until at least tues unless I get a hair up my butt and go to work this weekend.

Side note: the house we went to look at today (the 1800 sq ft one 3 bed 2 bath) was a big hit. We are going to attemt to rent it and move in to it this summer! It is an older house but it is very open with big windows!! sqee!!

Tomorrow I must go to the store and pick up supplies for knitting group. I know that I will be making apple dip (apples with a cream cheese based dip) and something else. Not sure what the something else is yet. Any suggestions are welcome!

This is the lastest yarn purchase I made. I grab this up last wed BEFORE I knew my card was stolen (I used a different card btw) sqee Just waiting for it to come in the mail :)

Update

I had three cops in my office today. It turns out that my card WAS stolen. They only charged a little over $100. It was at a raceway and a 7-11.

The cops told me what they normally do is go into office buildings and take one card out of a purse or wallet. If is a check book they will take checks out of the back or middle of the book. They will also take another item that has your name on it for identification purposes, like an insurance card. Also, they like to hit office buildings along the interstate. I was not the only one who was "hit" that day. The two girls that work with the guy said they hit a bunch of other offices that day.

Oh well....that was all the excitement I had today. One of the girls at worked noticed I have bad luck when it comes to my bank account.

I would lose my head if it wasn't bolted down

That statement would be oh so true if I did bolt my head down.

Here is my story. Gather round wee ones.

I was at Chili's with a few people from work for lunch on Monday. On Tuesday I noticed I did not have my debit card. I figured I left it at Chili's...so I called them and they went off looking for it. The next day I called again and they didn't have it so I cancelled the card. PSH 7 days for a new one. Today I got a call from my bank saying they got a call from the police department saying that they arrested a guy that had my debit card. WHAT!!! I thought it was at Chili's. This guy is known for going into office buildings and taking credit cards out of people's purses. I am not saying that this guy got it there. It could have fallen out of my purse or pocket or many other ways. But the guy got it and he is going DOWN. I am waiting for the cop (Sandi) to call me back to take with her and get all the little details.

I will keep you updated!

Other than that I am working on the same old baby blanket, big blanket, socks, and scarf.....whew that is a lot

LQTM

There has been SO much smoke around here. Hopefully some nice gusts of wind will finish clearing out the smoke. I took Friday off since was out of town for the last few weeks. It was a good day of getting some laundry done and put away. We still have a bunch more to finish. I also found my cable needle!!! WOOT I can finish my Irish hiking scarf!! My bro-in-law was in Florida and he also stopped by Friday night. We had a nice little cook out of some awesome steaks.

Saturday night we went to see Kelly interpret Grease! Yes there were a lot of songs and yes Josh did sit through the entire thing and yes he secretly enjoyed it. Every few minutes he would nudge me and say look beer....look at Kelly's face....look a car. Kelly also did an awesome job. Josh learnt a new sign (boobs). Afterward, John, Kelly, Josh, and I were going to eat at the new Wild Wings Cafe. If you have never tried it is awesome. Well it was a 45 minute wait so we walked out and look for other food. Look MEXICAN!! So we went to go eat some mexican and a margarita. Which they did put a lot of alcohol in.....not my fault!! We closed the place down. The entire way home I had to pee and Josh drove SO slow and hit every bump. We get to our complex and he goes around the block...EVIL.

Our kitten likes to try to play with our sucker fish and she fell behind the fish tank a minute ago. HA Poor fish.

Agenda for today - Shave the dog. It is in the 90's now. I don't think he needs his heavy coat.

Happy Cinco De Mayo

Since I am on the Ranch a lot I tend to have a bunch of stories and pictures. If you are lucky I might randomly call you from the ranch (when there is service). Like the time I almost ran over a baby cow, or I almost ran over a baby deer, or when someone who wasn't me almost ran over a baby gator. Lots of things tend to jump in front of or out of the way of the trucks. Another common occurance, well common as of last week, is getting stuck in the sand. Since there is a lot of dirt roads there tends to be a lot of sandy areas. Well here are a few pics

Here are a few gators along "aligator alley" at the Ranch. Normally, they are out sunning on the rocks. I am assuming that it was too hot for them that day. This last week has been extremly hot.

This little fella was running along our trucks as we were driving on the Ranch. Baby Cow crossed the road right after I took the picture. Luckily, it didn't cross while we were driving.

At the Headquarters on the Ranch we saw two deer. One is peeking out from behind the tree.

I have at least two more days at the Ranch next week. Then I get to go back to Daytona. Woot beaches I wont have time to see!

This last week was Josh's birthday. I was not able to be home for it since I spent all week working my butt off at the Ranch. To make up for that I got him an AWESOME birthday present. It is a 19 inch flat panel monitor to replace his 16 inch CRT monitor. It is so bright and pretty. I might try to steal it. I am glad I could find something seeing I had an hour to drive to the store by it and drive back all on friday after driving back from the Ranch. I even had some time to stop by Publix and get a cake and a card.

My To Do List Before Monday:

  • Do laundry / pack
  • Work on paperwork
  • Do timesheet and expenses
  • Prep for next week
  • Go to knitting
  • Work on baby blanket

I am sure there are more things I need to get done but I can't remember what they are. But for now it is going to bed.

Sunday, April 29, 2007

Whew...

Lets start out by saying that I have an AWESOME tan. It is the farmers tan with an added bonus of a watch line. This tan popped up on monday. I wasn't even out side for that long. This next week I am upping my SPF 35 to SPF 70. Hopefully I can even out my tan to my shoulders.
Photo of the week is this baby gator. Isn't it cute. It was up the way from one of my sites. The boys said that they saw the momma gator before I took this picture. Well I didnt believe them since they said they hit it in the head with a rock. BTW the ditch was about 10 feet deep so we were pretty safe. There was only a small amt of water in it where the gators were. None where we were working. Good thing cuz we went into the ditch to collect samples. The only thing we saw was a dead turtle....I would show you the pic but I got it before I knew it was dead...
The Ranch wasnt too bad. Lots of work and long hours like normal. The stupid daylights savings was making us work longer hors though. We were working from 7 to about 8. With drive time and dinner we were up from 6 -11 if we were lucky.
This weekend I have slept a lot so that means not a lot of yarn time. I am going through withdrawls!
Well I am off to get ready for yarn group!

Playing catch up...

This is the finished wee irish chain baby blanket!!!!

I have a little bit of left over yarn but it will be used shortly. I have already started the next baby blanket. When I get a little more progress on it I will post a picture.

This past Sunday I went to the mall with Kelly to go to a bath and body works special morning test products and get free stuff event. I picked up a few items (a small honeysuckle lotion, and the special hand lotion) We got a free hand massage with a scrub and lotion to soften the hands and ooo it smelt good, like oranges. I got a free gift value of 45 bucks! It was two small lotions, a honeysuckle room oil, and a serum.

After our day of beauty, we walked around the mall and got into a little trouble. We found these AWESOME sunglasses. Ok honestly who would by these.....they make me look like a huge bug.

Later on that evening I went out for a night on the town. One of my coworkers divorce party. So I was the sober one that got lots of stories. lol
I got home on Sunday at about 4 am after dropping them off. The next day at about 1 pm I crawled out of bed. Then Josh started playing with the kitten. AWWW look they are both looking at the camera!!

This next week I will be out in the field, but I will have my laptop on me. The next two week I will be back on the ranch as well installing some wells! Fun! At least I will have a lot of hours.
In my quarter review I was informed that I had the third highest billiable hours (My goal was about 400 and I was over 600) in the region. So yeah that is awesome!

The yarn is oh so soft and a beautiful green and purple. When josh got up and saw the package he picked it up and said more.....ooooooo that is so soft! heh he is learning! I also got two count them TWO sock patterns, a bar of dark chocolate, and a box of tea. The tea is berryblossum white. This package was the best surprise EVER!

Here comes peter cotton tail hoppin down the bunny trail....

The last two weeks has been oh so busy. This has been my first day that i didnt have to get up early or do anything. So what did I do. I will tell you....I got my butt up out of bed this morning before 9 am and CLEANED. Like not just clean but like deep cleaning. I moved things around and threw labout 4 more boxes of crap I dont need away. I also got my computer desk and put that all together in the front room. I re organized the back bedroom. It is still full of boxes but it is a little bit better. All that is left is the bathroom kitchen and a ton of laundry. But it is ok I have all tomorrow for that too.

Yes I am still working on that freakin baby blanket. I HAVE to have it done my tomorrow the latest. That is when they are having the baby shower for the guy.

Other than the baby blanket I have not worked on anything else. Once this blanket is done I think I am going to try to organize all of my yarn. I might also pick up a blanket I was making a while ago and work on it. It is a crocheted blanket that I started making like 5 yrs ago. My mom wanted to work on it a little too so I stopped to let her do some. I might as well try to get it finished. Maybe Josh will like to use it....or maybe I will keep it for myself!!!!

Hope everyone has a good easter!!

why do you ask?

I guess this week I have been a little off. I was not aware of it. Mornings I have been out of the office on site. Everyone there has been asking me if I am feeling alright. I thought I was but I guess they didn't think so. Maybe I was a little tired.

I had some yarn pirate in my cart from theloopyewe.com and someone STOLE it!!!!

I am going to bed now.....

Sunday, March 25, 2007

Well, you see......

I thought I could get that blanket done tonight but I have not worked on it at all since I have gotten home....I guess that means that Josh will have to go in after he gives his notice. I think I might go to bed now im getting sleepy and Charlie cat is being all cute and cuddling.

btw Tonight Planet Earth started on the Discovery channel and it is pretty cool. Check it out. Yeah I am tired a bird came on the show and I confused the beak with the head.....WOW

Extra Extra!

This is the baby blanket I am making for Josh's coworker. This will be the center of the blanket and it will have a thick green border and then a white border. This is crocheted by the way. I got the pattern from Our Best Baby Afghans. The pattern is called the wee irish chain. I am using bernat softee baby yarn in mint and white.
His coworker doesn't know if they are having a girl or a boy so I picked green. Green can go either way just like the kid! lol This is the first project I have made diagonally. It is pretty cool I can't wait to see how it turns out. I love the design!
The only bad thing about this pattern is that the finished size is 33 x 33. I think that is pretty small. I was going to expand the pattern but my deadline got shortened by a week. I think I will making it bigger by putting more rounds around the border!
I better go and finish making it before it is too late!

eek

The little kitten, Mage, wasn't feeling to good the other day. We noticed that she has been trying to pee a lot. Key word there is trying. So I watched her over the night and monitored how she was doing and I decided that today that she needs to see a doctor. 200 bucks later she does have a uti and is on some drugs. They were worried that the food might be the cause of the uti since there is that HUGE pet food recall. Luckily our pets are on food that is not on that list. The vet still felt the need to put Mage on a special cat food. Twenty bucks for five pounds!!! eek I can not handle that. I am gonna call around tomorrow and see if there is anything else we can do....

Happy St Pattys Day

Well I got home late last night. It is good to be home but I can never seem to get away from work. I have to go in today to unload the truck. It didn't seem appealing after a 14+ hour day. Last week I got an unusaul request from Josh. He wants me to make a baby blanket for one of his coworkers. Oh darn that means I must go to buy some baby yarn! I have two weeks to get it done so I must run to the store before heading to work.

Sunday, March 11, 2007

Well yesterday I had to go back to leesburg to get some work done. While I was waiting for the drillers to get back with the trailer to load everything up I wandered back downtown. Oh yes I bought more yarn. It was the other colorway I was fighting over getting the other day. eeeek...so pretty!

THURSDAY!

Here still in leesburg. Today I ventured around "downtown" Leesburg and found a yarn store I saw online a few weeks earlier. Seeing that they are only open Friday to Sunday I knocked. This nice woman...i forget her name but it reminds me of a type of bread lol....opened the door and let me shop!!! I really needed some yarn time. I fell in love with Jitterbug yarn in the fruit color. It is soo pretty the pink caught my eye and pulled me in. I left my camera in the car BUT pics will be up later if I remember. Hopefully, I will get to go back to tampa tomorrow. If not I will be back on Saturday and then back up here on Monday...sheessh....

Monday, March 05, 2007

It's Monday....

The loopy ewe is going to be updating its site tonight....eeek!! I might have to buy something thanks to my enabler. If I buy anything I will keep you informer.

I <3 TJ Flats

It has been a long week to say the least. We are about halfway done with our well installs. The rig broke down the other day. So it was a short day. I was able to go back to tampa to attend a wake. That was really hard. I think I cried more than most ppl there. I dont know why but I couldn't help myself. The wake was for the son of my coworker. That was my first time meeting his family. Since I was in town I stayed the night. Puppy was so happy to see me. He cuddled next to me ALL night long and didn't throw himself around. So that was good. Four more days to go before I get to go back home.

Well I think I am going to go to bed early tonight!

The first of ten

Well I am chillin here in my room. Didn't really feel like going out to eat tonight so I ordered a pizza. I got the new garlic bread pizza thing from dominos. I thought it was going to be a normal pizza with a bit more garlic on it. Well noob took my order. And it took him a while. Got my card number wrong 3 times. When I say something like 3 8 I do not mean three 8's....
Well I got my food and the pizza wasn't cut!! EKK so I got to tear it all apart. I also noticed it didn't have any sauce in it. Isn't it suppose to have sauce!!!! So not so good....good thing I got kickers as a backup!

My first sock

My sock, originally uploaded by knitsnbits.

Right now I am turning the heel on the sock. I think it has taken me almost a month to get this far....I need a knitting vacation!!!

Kitchen towel

Kitchen towel, originally uploaded by knitsnbits.

Finally I got my kitchen towel done. It has just been so busy at work that I haven't had the time to work with it. Last week was a little slower so I did most of it in one night.

oh so soft

New Yarn - limenviolet, originally uploaded by knitsnbits.

This is the room with a view yarn I got from limenviolet. It is oh so soft. I am not sure what I am going to do with it right now. Josh even approves of it because of its softness. I should it to him and his first reaction pink.....but of course I made him feel it and it went from meh to ooooh! tee hee

Pics!

Here is my fleece artist yarn on top and my mountain colors on the bottom.

btw I am testing out this blog the picture lets see if I can get more than one pic on a post. That would make my life a lot easier.

New yarn!

So I have been horrible. I have been on a sock yarn buying spree! My latest purchase was limenviolet's room with a view. I have to get a picture up here soon. Once I have a day off I will try to upload all the pictures.

I got a little cold so I am trying to get over that. The rest of this week I will be out in the field working. I think tonight will be an early night for me.

Hope everyone has a great valentines day!

Secret Pal 10

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I am trying out new yarns. I just got some merino wool and a wool and mohair sock yarn. I am staying away from acrylic yarn.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
Currently I do not have a case for my knitting needles. They are scattered all over the place. My crochet needles are stored in a small case you can get at walmart.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

Ribbit Ribbit

The other day at work, I was walking around opening up wells and taking water level measurements with on of my coworkers. We saw a tree frog in one of the wells. Well that brightened up my day because I do like animals. A little later on that day we were at a different well. He opened it and it had five tree frogs! Then the best thing happened. One of the frogs, about 2-3 inches long, jumped into my coworkers shirt! Hee went ahhh and I went OMG! Then the frog peed on him. The frog then proceeded to climb outside of his shirt up by the collar and peed there too! At this point I laughing and felt it safe to try and get the frog off of his shirt. The frog them jumped on his hand and he got it off. By the end of this ordeal I was in a laughing fit. He was just squating looking up at me like I was crazy. Everytime I looked at him that day I couldnt help but laugh. I knew there was a reason I liked frogs LMAO!

I have decided that in the near future I will frog some of my unfinished projects. Maybe not all of them. The blankets I will atempt to finish. I just had to get some drinks in me before I do it.

Update on current projects. I finished and felted my fuzzy feet. After the felting I thought they might be to small BUT they fit!

I have started to make a towel for the kitchen. Hopefully it comes out nicely.

It IS all about me

I just found a sweater that is named after me. Maybe I will have to make it one of these days. It is cute but seems quite easy. Link to my sweater. It does look so soft.

FRIDAY!

It is FINALLY Friday! Let me just start out by saying it has been a looong weekend. I have been out of town all weekend and it is good to be home. Good to take a shower in my own shower. I can not wait to go to sleep in MY bed with my cats and prob the dog.

I have finished one of my fuzzy feet and I have started the second. I haven't gotten to far on it though. This last week had a few long days and a lot of hard work. I am acutally taking a break from knitting tonight because my arms, hands, and wrists are just hurty. Hopefully tomorrow or Sunday they will be feeling better.

Plans for tomorrow include do my work landry, picking up around the house, and hopefully going into the back room and moving things around. What I might do is move some stuff from the frount room into the bedroom and move some items out here from the back room. We will see how I am feeling tomorrow. All day long I have not been feeling to well. I think it might have been the lack of sleep and stress of being on the road.

Things to buy for next week include sun screen and lotion (like hand or a thick cream)

Update on my heart attack

I have talked to the manager of the shell station through a helpful employee. This guy, George, has yet to call me about the over draft charges. It is HIS responsiblity to contact the bank to resolve this issue. Since he is not willing to do this I have had to contact my bank...which I really didn't want to do seeing my branch is full of stupid people. So I did not contact my branch. But I have contacted the bank and created a dispute claim. The claim included the overdraft charges as well as the credit that the shell station was suppose to credit to my account that has NOT gone through yet!!!! That made me a little upset. George does know that it has not gone through yet. His response was well you saw that we did credit it back to you. You might have but it hasn't gone through yet!!! WTF.

On monday I will be calling the Circle K rep. I believe this George guy could get off his ass and do a little more to help me. The shell station is owned by Circle K by the way.

This will be fixed this next week!

Heart Attack!

On the way to work this morning I stopped off at the shell station. I needed to grab another bag of ice to keep my samples cool. While I was there I figured I might as well grab a soda and some sinus med. That day I was going out in the field with a guy who smokes a WHOLE LOT. I went to work, came home, went to home depot with Josh, got some dinner, and then headed over to wally world. We had a good time out tonight. When we got home I figured I should get online and check things out before I went to bed. I noticed a big dip in the account. Looking at it I saw that the shell station charged me $1,274.69 for my drink and med this morning. WHAT! That can't be right. I race over to the station in my blue pj pants with ducks on them, a clemson shirt, and the only shoes closest to the door (happen to be orange). I also made sure I grabed my laptop seeing I could not find the reciept. I get there and the to girls working were just as shocked and raced into action. I was very happy with that. All I kept thinking was I hope they hurry up and fix this so I can go home...my back it killing me!!

Well they refunded it but the manager is going to call me in the morning to make sure everything is still good.

Off to bed now!! I just hope I won't have nightmares over this...lol

Happy New Years!

First off I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Years. Hopefully the resolutions that you pick you are able to stay with them. I have a few that I would like to accomplish. One is to start studying for the GRE. I have started but I have not been able to just dive in.

I have finished a few scarfs for my family that I need to ship out to them. I have also started making a scarf for charity as well as a few things hopefully for me!!

Yesterday I snuck in to see Josh's burn. It was pretty cool when they burnt the house down.

After the burn I went to my car to leave and noticed that my car wouldn't start. I was low on gas so thought was maybe that. I walked to the gas station got some gas got harassed by a hobo and filled my tank. Click Beep Click Beep Click Beep......hmmm well it wasn't the gas. So next thought was the battery now that I am getting clicking. I find a guy (and his family) in the parking lot of dunkin donuts and got a jump. He thought the beeping was odd as well. BUT I got it running so I could get home and out of the heat.

Well I must get back to knitting the scarf!

Ho ho and more hos

This was a different Christmas. My first Christmas with out my family. That was a little hard on me. However this was my second Christmas with Josh. Although he doesn't get into the holidays like I do. Our apartment would not be big enough for my Christmas tree. We were thinking whether or not we wanted to get a Christmas tree way to long because it was Christmas Eve Eve and we didn't have a tree and I hadn't done ANY Christmas shopping. Well that sucked so I ended up decorating the fake tree that sits in our corner and put a tree skirt around. On Christmas Eve Josh was very anxious and wanted to open presents. Well I put my foot down and went to bed. The next morning I was up at 9 and Josh was still sleeping. I guess he stayed up to see if Santa was real or not. At about 1 his mom called to wish him a Merry Christmas. I figured well she is up on the West coast so Josh can get up. I turned on Christmas music in the room and he, of course, ran out saying noooooo not that! Shame Christmas music only comes on once a year. Well he got up made me open my present first. This was the first present he has ever wrapped, so he says, and the first actual present he bought for Christmas before Christmas. Well it was a very cute attempt at wrapping. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it. He used an entire roll of tape wrapped around and around. Oh and I was not allowed to use a knife to open it....darn. Well I finally got it open and he got me an mp3 player!!! So that is cool. It is a Sandisk and all pretty and black. Since it was a good gift I let him open his presents. A thing of nuts, chocolate covered cherries, tin of popcorn, a keyboard, and a bbq. He did get an early Christmas present (his bike) so i did put that behind the tree. After all of that and a few minutes of playing with our toys, we put the bbq together and cleaned up. We were having chick next door over and one of Josh's friends. Cooked some good chicken and played cranium while drinkings. Girls against boys. Needless to say us girls KICKED ASS. We are good at drawing and acting. Well today I am going to do some laundry since I don't have anything to wear to work anymore. sigh

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!!!!

Is it friday yet?

I just got back from about 2 weeks in the field (not counting the weekend) Let me just say I am ready for the weekend....Just one more day. I did that the two days after Christmas. Those five days will be spent with yarn and cats!!! This week I did see a lot of cute baby cows. And going out all the time is making the dog miss me more and attack me at the dog by licking.

barely alive

well it has been a loong long week. I have been out in the middle of no where working my butt off with 15+ hour days. This weekend I still have a lot to do workwise. I am going back to the middle of nowhere so tomorrow I am getting my paperwork together and putting in my hefty time sheet. Hopefully I can get all my cards sent out on Monday. I wasn't finished addressing them last weekend. So have no fear, if I have your address your card is on the way!

Tonight Josh is taking me to look at christmas lights in the area. That has been a tradition in my family since I can remember. I think I might have even gotten him to go with me later to get our picture taken. We will see.

Well I am going to go play with some yarn and make some cookies!

wake me up before you go go

I just don't get it. Why are ALL the horrible fashoins trends coming back. I was out shopping with a co worker when I heard her say I want to get some leggings and a big shirt. WHAT!!! Next those clips for the shirt will come back. Maybe The jeans with the skirt over it will come back. WOOT...ok not really those made me mad too. Big hair is prob going to come back too. Maybe I should be practicing teasing my bangs.

so ends another month

I haven't been online for the last few days due to internet problems. Here is a quick catch up on what has/is happening:
  • Thanksgiving went good. Nothing got burnt. It was really small, just josh and I. We (meaning I) cooked herb roasted turkey breasts, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, cheesy potato casserole, mac and cheese, candied yams, bread, and apple pie. Yes I know that is a lot of potatoes. I started with just the casserole, and thought I really want mashed potatoes, but josh hates them so I will do both. Then after both was started I thought wait what if the casserole is too cheesy for josh. Anyways it was good.
  • Went shopping day after thanksgiving. Didn't really buy anything...BUT I got my hair cut!!!
  • Friday we finally got the mail straightened out. For about a month (ish) I haven't been receiving any mail. Josh's has been coming but mine were being sent back. I talked with the mail man and he was shocked I was still living there. Somehow all my mail was ending up in the Outgoing box so he thought I moved out. He just started sending all the mail back to the sender. So far so good!!!
  • I finished knitting my scarf out of the pink variegated cotton yarn. I think it is pretty.
  • I just started a new scarf in gray wool. I have to find a semi formal outfit to wear.
  • I also have to buy a gift for the gift exchange. arg

Just makes me proud

I got this as an im and thought that I should share it for ALL to see!

Tale of Four Fans

There were 4 football fans: a Georgia Fan, a Florida St. Fan, a Clemson Fan and a South Carolina Fan. All were arguing about who was the most die hard, loyal fan. So to settle this, they climbed to the highest mountain top.

Once there, the Georgia Fan proclaimed "This is for the Bulldogs!" and jumped off the mountain singing "Glory, Glory to old Georgia" as he fell to his death.

Not to be outdone, the Florida State fan yells "This is for the Seminoles" and jumps to his death screaming, "Go Noles Go"!

Refusing to be outdone, the Clemson fan yells "This is for the Tigers," pushes the South Carolina fan off the side of the mountain and shouts .............. "FLY GAMECOCK FLY!"

Kitty!!

Currenty I have a kitten under my leg.....

It has been a crazy week for me. My birthday was last monday. I got lots of emails, ims, text messages, and phone calls. Thank you all. It was very nice. The shocking thing is that my dad was the only person not to call, write, or email. Calling I can understand since the regular phones have been shit off. But I was shocked he didnt even email me. So my sister talked to him two days after my birthday and that was when he emailed me saying he forgot. Well.....to late

Anyways I just finshed a christmas table center thing (picture to come). This will be given away. Hopefully I will put it in the mail after thanksgiving.

Well back to yarn!

oh no its happening again!

The great pumkin is done! It looks ok unstuffed. I have to either find my stuffing or go out and buy some. That might have to wait because I have been soo busy. I have pretty much been working all weekend. I have restarted a scarf with my cotton yarn (see past posts for photo) I have decided on a simple box stitch pattern and so far it is coming out pretty nice. Hopefully it will be finished during this next week. We will just have to see how it all goes.

I forgot how humid and hot it is here and carved our pumpkins early. I just new there wasn't going to be time this weekend. Well the worst has happened. I walked over to them today and noticed that Trogdor's mouth was gone. And my reaper guy wasn't looking to hot either. so I opened them up and OH MY it was a jungle. So they must be laid to rest before halloween sad to say. If I can find my stuffing then at least we will have one pumpkin out. lol

Onward to my scarf with little kitten in my lap. Lets see if she decides to attack my yarn again.....hopefully not.

sweet as piiie

This weekend has been a long one. I have struggled with my puter. Some how over night I got two different "virues" on lappy. It took all Sunday morning and part of the afternoon but they *should* be gone now. I am still running some tests. Today, I made two loafs of pumpkin bread. I think that it is pretty good...but I am bias. I also started to make a knitted pumpkin for Halloween. not too far into it but pics if/when i get it done.

here kitty kitty kitty

This morning started like any other Sunday. I woke up took the dog out and started the laundry. I turned on the tv and folded some clothes. Then it happened......knocking on the door. I got up and the girl next door was at the door asking me if she could go through boys car. That was just odd to hear but then she went on to explain her dog was going crazy because there was a kitty stuck under/in his car. This kitten was meowing ALL night long. heh I guess I slept through that. So i got out my work tool box and started taking apart his car. So after 30 mins we finally got the kitten out.

A name for her is still up in the air. She is black with white socks and a little bit of white on her tummy.
I will update more on her later.

soaked

Yesterday we went to the beach for the first time since we moved here. We took dog and dog looooved it. He was swimming all over (first time swimming). However, on the walk from the parking lot to the beach he ended up getting sand burrs stuck in his paws and fur. When we got home i ended up cutting them out and then gave him a bath and cut his hair again. This time he got a total trim not just a few snips with the scissors.

Puppy try to dry off a little (before his trim)

Sunset at the beach. AWWWW

Had to get up early this morning to meet with
a bunch of my coworkers. We participated in coastal clean up. It was good to get out and walk around while making the environment all pretty. Afterward we went out to eat and then to the yarn store! woot. I bought 2 scans of micio yarn color 6 and one scan patagonia nature cotton in color 211 but on the color card it looks more like 213. I am not exactly sure what I want to make with these....probably scarfs. so if you have any ideas for patterns let me know. I an a little antsy to start with them but i promised myself that i would first finish what is on my needles.

Go to capitalonebowl.com to vote for your fav mascot!!!!

So the CLEMSON fsu game is on right now. GO TIGERS! OMG jimmy dean is done. That is all i have to say.

cooking by email

A few days ago I received an email about Neiman Marcus. It contained a recipes that they claim was the recipe for the cookies sold at Neiman Marcus. Well the entire email was a scam but it did have a recipe for the cookies. Looking at it I thought it would be fun to see if they are good. I am currently waiting for the oven to preheat before I put the batch in. The dough looks pretty awesome. If any of you are interested the recipe is as follows:

Neiman-Marcus Fake Cookies (Recipe may be halved)

Ingredients:
2 cups butter
2 cups sugar
2 cups brown sugar

4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
5 cups blended oatmeal
4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
24 oz. chocolate chips
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)

Directions:
Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder.
Cream the butter and both sugars, add eggs and vanilla.
Mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda.
Add chocolate chips, Hershey Bar, and nuts.
Roll into balls, and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes 112 cookies.

I left the nuts out of my cookies.

I finished my first knitting project last week. It is a criss cross cabled cozie. I have started on a pocket scarf for a present for some little ones. Time to put cookies in the oven. Lets hope they turn out!!!
