Happy New Years!

First off I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Years. Hopefully the resolutions that you pick you are able to stay with them. I have a few that I would like to accomplish. One is to start studying for the GRE. I have started but I have not been able to just dive in.

I have finished a few scarfs for my family that I need to ship out to them. I have also started making a scarf for charity as well as a few things hopefully for me!!

Yesterday I snuck in to see Josh's burn. It was pretty cool when they burnt the house down.

After the burn I went to my car to leave and noticed that my car wouldn't start. I was low on gas so thought was maybe that. I walked to the gas station got some gas got harassed by a hobo and filled my tank. Click Beep Click Beep Click Beep......hmmm well it wasn't the gas. So next thought was the battery now that I am getting clicking. I find a guy (and his family) in the parking lot of dunkin donuts and got a jump. He thought the beeping was odd as well. BUT I got it running so I could get home and out of the heat.

Well I must get back to knitting the scarf!

Ho ho and more hos

This was a different Christmas. My first Christmas with out my family. That was a little hard on me. However this was my second Christmas with Josh. Although he doesn't get into the holidays like I do. Our apartment would not be big enough for my Christmas tree. We were thinking whether or not we wanted to get a Christmas tree way to long because it was Christmas Eve Eve and we didn't have a tree and I hadn't done ANY Christmas shopping. Well that sucked so I ended up decorating the fake tree that sits in our corner and put a tree skirt around. On Christmas Eve Josh was very anxious and wanted to open presents. Well I put my foot down and went to bed. The next morning I was up at 9 and Josh was still sleeping. I guess he stayed up to see if Santa was real or not. At about 1 his mom called to wish him a Merry Christmas. I figured well she is up on the West coast so Josh can get up. I turned on Christmas music in the room and he, of course, ran out saying noooooo not that! Shame Christmas music only comes on once a year. Well he got up made me open my present first. This was the first present he has ever wrapped, so he says, and the first actual present he bought for Christmas before Christmas. Well it was a very cute attempt at wrapping. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it. He used an entire roll of tape wrapped around and around. Oh and I was not allowed to use a knife to open it....darn. Well I finally got it open and he got me an mp3 player!!! So that is cool. It is a Sandisk and all pretty and black. Since it was a good gift I let him open his presents. A thing of nuts, chocolate covered cherries, tin of popcorn, a keyboard, and a bbq. He did get an early Christmas present (his bike) so i did put that behind the tree. After all of that and a few minutes of playing with our toys, we put the bbq together and cleaned up. We were having chick next door over and one of Josh's friends. Cooked some good chicken and played cranium while drinkings. Girls against boys. Needless to say us girls KICKED ASS. We are good at drawing and acting. Well today I am going to do some laundry since I don't have anything to wear to work anymore. sigh

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!!!!

I just got back from about 2 weeks in the field (not counting the weekend) Let me just say I am ready for the weekend....Just one more day. I did that the two days after Christmas. Those five days will be spent with yarn and cats!!! This week I did see a lot of cute baby cows. And going out all the time is making the dog miss me more and attack me at the dog by licking.

barely alive

well it has been a loong long week. I have been out in the middle of no where working my butt off with 15+ hour days. This weekend I still have a lot to do workwise. I am going back to the middle of nowhere so tomorrow I am getting my paperwork together and putting in my hefty time sheet. Hopefully I can get all my cards sent out on Monday. I wasn't finished addressing them last weekend. So have no fear, if I have your address your card is on the way!

Tonight Josh is taking me to look at christmas lights in the area. That has been a tradition in my family since I can remember. I think I might have even gotten him to go with me later to get our picture taken. We will see.

Well I am going to go play with some yarn and make some cookies!

so ends another month

I haven't been online for the last few days due to internet problems. Here is a quick catch up on what has/is happening:
  • Thanksgiving went good. Nothing got burnt. It was really small, just josh and I. We (meaning I) cooked herb roasted turkey breasts, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, cheesy potato casserole, mac and cheese, candied yams, bread, and apple pie. Yes I know that is a lot of potatoes. I started with just the casserole, and thought I really want mashed potatoes, but josh hates them so I will do both. Then after both was started I thought wait what if the casserole is too cheesy for josh. Anyways it was good.
  • Went shopping day after thanksgiving. Didn't really buy anything...BUT I got my hair cut!!!
  • Friday we finally got the mail straightened out. For about a month (ish) I haven't been receiving any mail. Josh's has been coming but mine were being sent back. I talked with the mail man and he was shocked I was still living there. Somehow all my mail was ending up in the Outgoing box so he thought I moved out. He just started sending all the mail back to the sender. So far so good!!!
  • I finished knitting my scarf out of the pink variegated cotton yarn. I think it is pretty.
  • I just started a new scarf in gray wool. I have to find a semi formal outfit to wear.
  • I also have to buy a gift for the gift exchange. arg

Just makes me proud

I got this as an im and thought that I should share it for ALL to see!

Tale of Four Fans

There were 4 football fans: a Georgia Fan, a Florida St. Fan, a Clemson Fan and a South Carolina Fan. All were arguing about who was the most die hard, loyal fan. So to settle this, they climbed to the highest mountain top.

Once there, the Georgia Fan proclaimed "This is for the Bulldogs!" and jumped off the mountain singing "Glory, Glory to old Georgia" as he fell to his death.

Not to be outdone, the Florida State fan yells "This is for the Seminoles" and jumps to his death screaming, "Go Noles Go"!

Refusing to be outdone, the Clemson fan yells "This is for the Tigers," pushes the South Carolina fan off the side of the mountain and shouts .............. "FLY GAMECOCK FLY!"

Kitty!!

Currenty I have a kitten under my leg.....

It has been a crazy week for me. My birthday was last monday. I got lots of emails, ims, text messages, and phone calls. Thank you all. It was very nice. The shocking thing is that my dad was the only person not to call, write, or email. Calling I can understand since the regular phones have been shit off. But I was shocked he didnt even email me. So my sister talked to him two days after my birthday and that was when he emailed me saying he forgot. Well.....to late

Anyways I just finshed a christmas table center thing (picture to come). This will be given away. Hopefully I will put it in the mail after thanksgiving.

Well back to yarn!

oh no its happening again!

The great pumkin is done! It looks ok unstuffed. I have to either find my stuffing or go out and buy some. That might have to wait because I have been soo busy. I have pretty much been working all weekend. I have restarted a scarf with my cotton yarn (see past posts for photo) I have decided on a simple box stitch pattern and so far it is coming out pretty nice. Hopefully it will be finished during this next week. We will just have to see how it all goes.

I forgot how humid and hot it is here and carved our pumpkins early. I just new there wasn't going to be time this weekend. Well the worst has happened. I walked over to them today and noticed that Trogdor's mouth was gone. And my reaper guy wasn't looking to hot either. so I opened them up and OH MY it was a jungle. So they must be laid to rest before halloween sad to say. If I can find my stuffing then at least we will have one pumpkin out. lol

Onward to my scarf with little kitten in my lap. Lets see if she decides to attack my yarn again.....hopefully not.

sweet as piiie

This weekend has been a long one. I have struggled with my puter. Some how over night I got two different "virues" on lappy. It took all Sunday morning and part of the afternoon but they *should* be gone now. I am still running some tests. Today, I made two loafs of pumpkin bread. I think that it is pretty good...but I am bias. I also started to make a knitted pumpkin for Halloween. not too far into it but pics if/when i get it done.

here kitty kitty kitty

This morning started like any other Sunday. I woke up took the dog out and started the laundry. I turned on the tv and folded some clothes. Then it happened......knocking on the door. I got up and the girl next door was at the door asking me if she could go through boys car. That was just odd to hear but then she went on to explain her dog was going crazy because there was a kitty stuck under/in his car. This kitten was meowing ALL night long. heh I guess I slept through that. So i got out my work tool box and started taking apart his car. So after 30 mins we finally got the kitten out.

A name for her is still up in the air. She is black with white socks and a little bit of white on her tummy.
I will update more on her later.

soaked

Yesterday we went to the beach for the first time since we moved here. We took dog and dog looooved it. He was swimming all over (first time swimming). However, on the walk from the parking lot to the beach he ended up getting sand burrs stuck in his paws and fur. When we got home i ended up cutting them out and then gave him a bath and cut his hair again. This time he got a total trim not just a few snips with the scissors.

Puppy try to dry off a little (before his trim)

Sunset at the beach. AWWWW

Had to get up early this morning to meet with
a bunch of my coworkers. We participated in coastal clean up. It was good to get out and walk around while making the environment all pretty. Afterward we went out to eat and then to the yarn store! woot. I bought 2 scans of micio yarn color 6 and one scan patagonia nature cotton in color 211 but on the color card it looks more like 213. I am not exactly sure what I want to make with these....probably scarfs. so if you have any ideas for patterns let me know. I an a little antsy to start with them but i promised myself that i would first finish what is on my needles.

Go to capitalonebowl.com to vote for your fav mascot!!!!

So the CLEMSON fsu game is on right now. GO TIGERS! OMG jimmy dean is done. That is all i have to say.

cooking by email

A few days ago I received an email about Neiman Marcus. It contained a recipes that they claim was the recipe for the cookies sold at Neiman Marcus. Well the entire email was a scam but it did have a recipe for the cookies. Looking at it I thought it would be fun to see if they are good. I am currently waiting for the oven to preheat before I put the batch in. The dough looks pretty awesome. If any of you are interested the recipe is as follows:

Neiman-Marcus Fake Cookies (Recipe may be halved)

Ingredients:
2 cups butter
2 cups sugar
2 cups brown sugar

4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
5 cups blended oatmeal
4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
24 oz. chocolate chips
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)

Directions:
Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder.
Cream the butter and both sugars, add eggs and vanilla.
Mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda.
Add chocolate chips, Hershey Bar, and nuts.
Roll into balls, and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes 112 cookies.

I left the nuts out of my cookies.

I finished my first knitting project last week. It is a criss cross cabled cozie. I have started on a pocket scarf for a present for some little ones. Time to put cookies in the oven. Lets hope they turn out!!!

No body puts baby in a corner!

Since moving here things have just seemed right. Everyone is telling me I am doing an awesome job at work. And that they think I have been there a lot longer than I really have been because I just fit in. That feels good to hear. I was out on a short (2 day) trip with one of the guys when I received a call from the office. They were having a drawing for Buccaneers tickets. I put my name down. There happens to be 50 people in my office and at least 20 people in my section (environmental). We got back to the office around 12 and at 1 they had the drawing. The other new girl (newer than me!) got two tickets and a parking pass. And somehow I got the second pack of two tickets and a parking pass!!! HELL YEAH!! Boy and I needed to go out and do something fun. It always seems like I am working and when I have free time he is working. He has started his classes so it is going to be a little crazy. Let me just say it was a great game against miami. We didn't win but it was really close (13-10 miami) The seat were in the nose bleed section but it was a great view and it didnt rain.
currenty i am making pizza, washing my field clothes, and working on my criss cross cable "glass" cozy.

badger badger badger

argh! a snake a snake

So I was doing some laundry today and was picking some towels in the bathroom and saw a worm. OMG so I yelled at boy and he started poking it and said umm I don't think worms move that fast. I think it is a little snake. It was black and about 3 inches long. So about 10 mins later we finally got it and let it outside. That was a little odd.

Please enjoy the music while you are on hold....lalalalala

For about the last week I have been having problems with my internet. It is kinda funny actually. We have the brand new fiber optic cable internet and TV. For the last week or so the internet has kicked us off every 5 to 10 mins. It kinda sucks. We have called Verizon many many MANY times. They have sent a lot of ppl out...like 5. First, they insisted that it was on our end...like our computers. We finally convinced them that we really are using two different computers and experiencing the same problems at the same time on both computers. Then they came out and was convinced that it was the equipment on our end. That seems more reasonable than it being our puters. Well they changed EVERYTHING..the router, the box outside, the freakin cables. Well that didn't work *sigh* They came out and did it again! Still didn't work....surprise surprise. Then a new guy...a higher up guy....came out. He did everything AGAIN. And then said yeah I thought so it IS on our end. I had to redo everything just to be on the safe side. So they had to turn off the internet to about 100 ppl last night at about 1am. This was to update the software. Apparently, we got old software and was the only one experiencing problems. So fixing the software would fix this problem right? WRONG!!! It is still doing the same thing. After work I called them and told them there was still a problem. Well this is very odd they say. They have moved this problem up to the engineers. Will they be able to fix this horrible occurrence. I do hope so. I miss being online for more than 20 minutes. Until we get the internet up and running I might not be on any ims. You can still reach me on email....gmail is the best I can check that at work too! Lets hope they fix it soon.
Wish me luck!
