Here is my proof!

Your Score: Juniper Berries

You scored 75% intoxication, 50% hotness, 100% complexity, and 75% craziness!

You are Juniper Berries!

You're a drunk. No, really. Cool it with the hooch.

Just kidding. You're really good at adding flavour to boring old life. You can be astringent at times, but once the harshness passes, you're quite relaxing. And you smell good, too.

Trying Week

Work was rough this week....lets just leave it at that.
We now have four kittens....one of them did not make it *sigh*
This weekend I will be moving more items over to the new house and hopefully cleaning the other one.
Tomorrow the Cable/Internet/Phone guy is going to show up to hook up everything.
Tonight I must go get the tv/internet thing/phone so the guy can hook it up tomorrow.
Tonight I need to go to the laundry mat and wash some clothes and bring them back here to dry.

And we're off!

EEEE

We just rented a new apartment today. We only went to look and we ended up signing up for it.

The X is showing where I will be. There are ducks in that pond that I will be feeding! DUCKS!

I forgot the camera when we went to go see it so no pictures have been taken yet. Hopefully, I will remember it before we move everything in.

Last night I was at work and started to think that something can not be right about the cat. Can you tell she has been on my mind. Upon further inspection of my emails and work calendar I noticed that my job (which occured the week she got out and was my reference point) was pushed back. So in fact, her nine week mark is this week!!! So she is still going to pop any time now. Those of you who have placed in dates and kitten amounts will have the same weekday this week (unless otherwise informed)

My SP Package

Clock
Originally uploaded by knitsnbits.

This is the awesome clock that my secret pal sent me. I was able to snag a picture of it before I head off to work (Josh did have the camera!!)

my reveal package......

I just now like not even 5 minutes ago received my secret pal package. Luckily I was up and dressed for work (they put me on night shift for the beginning of this week and I opted to drive back to my house at night) when I heard a knock at the door. I hurried over there but the UPS guy had already put the package under the rug and was off. So I opened it and I got a wonderful clock. After much time of searching for my camera (which I am assuming Josh has stolen it for the day...) I decided to post about it and hang it up. It has a white background and green letters that say : See Sandy Knit.

EEEE! Thank you very much my not so secret pal anymore!!

fyi if things are misspelled or not capitalized I am sorry I have a very crappy keyboard and will be getting a new one this weekend. Have the time the shift buttons wont work.....

Prego Mage update: No kittens yet.....sheesh what is taking so long. I have been thinking maybe she isnt prego just fat.....yeah fat

Dreams Do Come True

I mentioned on Sunday to my knitting group about a dream I had last week. It was about clear shoes and how some of the knitting group was going to buy some. Well my dreams have come true......Clear shoes

If you like Pina Coladas

Thanks giving went pretty good. Nothing burnt. The turkey was good. Athena, the youngest kitten, stole a piece of Turkey!!!! Arg.

I did go shopping today. However, I did not get up at 6 am. I went out around 9 and walked around the mall and target and a few other stores. Nothing caught my eye so I did not spend anything. I then called Kelly to get some yarn, went over to her house, got scared by her, and went off to Fiber Art. I got the Fiber Trends Clog pattern I have been wanting, and then went to Joann's, evil Superstore Joann's, to pick up yarn for the slippers, and a quick stop to bed bath and beyond.

I started the fuzzy feet for my sister but put that on the side and I gave in and started the clog pattern! So far so good. Pics to come!

sweater weather?

Eileen you have inspired me. I am thinking about knitting my first(!!!) sweater. I was thinking about Colette Pullover from the new interweave knits. As many of you might know, when I try something new I don't go for the simple no possibe screwing it up. So this has TWO colors AND steeking. Josh looked at the picture last night and liked it a lot. And then said you should make it. I think I might wait until after xmas when I put away all the gifts I have not finished.

Any Guesses?

I am thinking that Mage will have 3 kittens by Thanksgiving. Anyone want to take a guess about how many kittens or when she will be having them? There might be something in for you. I have yet to decide *evil grin*

NOOO

So I am having camera problems. I have a Canon Powershot S1 IS and I think it is having CDD image problems. *sigh* Well at least I was able to DL the pics on it

Mage of the Mange

(Title just for you Kelly)
Well Mage has yet to give birth to the kittens. Tuesday will be the start date of 9 weeks (I know that she was out 9 weeks ago Tuesday...earliest possible day) Monday (maybe Tuesday) I will be out of town. We will see how things progress. I have felt the kittens move today. I am guessing at least three.

Friday, November 16, 2007

sheesh

well this has been one long month. I am currently at work (day shift instead of night shift). The word around the block is that I might be doing this part of next week. We will have to see how it plays out. I am a little further on the irish hiking scarf for my bro in law. The goal is to get that done before xmas for him. I had to buy an extra ball of the bernat satin for it. If/When I get it done I will post a picture of it.

This weekend I will attempt to post a bunch of pictures that I have been neglecting on my camera for sometime now. Now I must attempt to stay awake for a few more hours until I can get this done and get back to MY house with MY cats and MY stupid shark dog. (I considered calling him sharkie there but I did not want to get him confused with sharkie the sharkfish that has passed on)

whew!

One week of working on the night shift left. I am surprised that I made it through this last week. From what I am thinking this next week will be a little bit easier. They cut my scope of work back due to the fact it is slightly difficult to keep something air tight when you are hammering it down.

On another note, Mage should be having her kittens the week of Thanksgiving (the real American Thanksgiving).

Josh bought me my birthday present this weekend and gave it to me seeing I will be working the night shift on my birthday. He finished buying the items necessary to build me a desktop.

Happy November!

New month means I need to make up for my lack of blogging. October has been extremely busy at work. Ohio was nice to work in. Cooler weather, changing leaves, and no allergies!!

This was the sunset at the site.

This is one of the dirt roads we had to drive on (when it was nice)
IMG_4070
This is our rental truck. It was a new truck. It still had the new car smell. The outside is clean compared to the inside.

Work extended my stay by a day so I had to fly in on Saturday, find a costume, and get ready to go to the Halloween party.
halloween 07

While I was away I received my secret pal package! I got the stitch n' bitch nation book and the Friday Night Knit Club. (pictures to come they need uploading) Woot. I had to put the books away so I won't read them before my looong week. I have been told I am working from 6pm to 6 am for the next two weeks!!

Halloween Day was nice seeing I got to stay in the office. I made Kelly's pumpkin bars. MMMMmmmm I also carved a pumpkin for the pumpkin carving contest....and I won...First Place!!
Man on Fire

I ran home and got the dog, Ranger, into his costume outfit. As you can see he was a shark. A man eating shark!
Shark Sweater

Later on the night I light the pumpkin (a pan full of lighter fluid and a match)
Man on Fire Pumpkin

I put in for vacation today! YAY I am taking the entire Christmas week off. My boss came over to me to make sure that my vacation balance remaining was correct. That just shows you that I have been working WAY to much.

On that note I think I am going to go to bed early.

Sunday, October 14, 2007

Out of the water!

I have finished the back to basics socks! I have started knitting Ranger's (the dog) Halloween costume. He is going to be a shark! All I have left to do is a little bit of ribbing on the legs and the fin!! Oh pictures will be taken. I have started jaywalkers in my jitterbug.

I am currently sitting in the airport waiting for my flight to Ohio to work out there until next Friday. Woot it will be fun and many of pictures will be taken there.

Tuesday, October 09, 2007

It is official. I am going to start studying for the GRE this coming week. I also am going to schedule a tour of the department at USF. I have NO idea when I will take the GRE or even start the classes. But at least the ball is rolling. Hopefully my work schedule will lighten up so I can have more time to study.

Smokey

Friday night we decided to go camping....that night. Soo we packed up and met coworker at Ginnie Springs. Lets just say the drive up there was horrible. It was a downpour until 30 miles before our exit. Fire was started, alcohol was drank, water was played in. Josh got in 3 diving trips on saturday. I went on a tube trip down the river with everyone else. Josh and I left late last night. There is nothing better than sleeping in your own bed! Lots of pictures will soon be updated from this trip.

This morning I finally stuffed the pumpkin I made last year. yay! something done!

My car needs to be detailed now. There is probably 50 lbs of sand in it right now and it smells like smoke. Cleaning will be done!

Back to Basics....

So I am almost done with the heel on my first Back to Basics sock. I was a little skeptical about the fit of the heel and gusset. I am pleasently surprised that it fits nicely.

Operation cat in the trap

Last night it was a success! I was laying in bed at about 130 AM and I thought I heard the trap go off. I just laid there to see if I could hear anything else. I was ohh soo comfy. Shortly after that Josh had to run to his friends house. So I got up and looked. The trap had gone off, some of the food had been eaten, but there was no animal. *sigh* So I went to bed and Josh went to his friends house. When he got back I was dead to the world but I shot up when he said you caught something! It was like Christmas morning for me. I go outside and there was my little black kitten. As soon as I opened the door she started her pitiful meowing. So I bring her inside, took a picture or two :-D, and let her out. My older cat, Charlie, is still smelling on her....all night long. But I went to bed with ALL of the animals. Mage slept right on top of me all night long purring. I don't remember the last time she purred so much.

My To Do List for Sunday:

  • Start the laundry (for my field clothes..ewww)
  • Finish up the dishes
  • Give Mage a bath
  • Tell the neighbors we found Mage (33%)
  • Find my BIG tent in the back bedroom
  • Setup my big tent (this might wait until the middle of the week)
  • Vacuum

Aren't you just full of attitude

This has been one very very long week. Somehow I have gotten a bunch of ant and/or mosquito bites. There has been lots of problems with the drillers (and their families). My cat, Mage, got out of the house Monday night/Tuesday morning. She climbed a tree and at around 3 the neighbor guy came out and saw me sitting out there watching her. He climbed the tree got her and dropped her to me. Now if you know me I have NO hand eye coordination. I told him this. To make it worse it is a black cat at night..... Well needless to say I missed her and she ran off. *sigh* We have heard her outside one night. Plus my older cat has been going crazy. I have been having to take him out on walks because he is soo upset that Mage is gone. I bought an animal trap today and set it up with some food. Hopefully we can catch her now.
To brighten up my week I got a present in the mail from my secret pal. It is awesome.

SP 11 Package!

the bouquet has bamboo dpn size 1 needles and zen yarn garden in the juicy fruit colorway. I have been good and have not ripped it open completely yet. Have to take it to the knitting group on sunday to show it off.

The yarn that I stole from Kelly has been put to good use. I am making the back to basics socks from the knitty fall 07.

Sock Yarn

So far I am on the gusset. Hopefully I will get it done before knitting tomorrow. As for now I think I might get to bed. Maybe check my cat trap before I do.

Monkeys....

Well I re-knit the HUGE monkey sock with a tighter gauge. Sadly, I tried them on and they still don't match. Like noticeably. I am going to rip out the first monkey and start on that one. One good thing is I have the pattern memorized now :-D

*sigh* I think it is bed time

eek

On my way home on Friday I had some car problems in the work truck. I was driving southbound on I-75 and was doing 70-ish when my front passenger tire blew. Funny thing I wasn't scared or worried. I slowed down (slowly..I didn't slam on the brakes :-D) got my flashers on and made sure I stayed in my lane (I didn't want to slam into the 18-wheeler besides me). Once I was able to, I pulled over to the shoulder. Luckliy, no one was hurt and there is only minor damage to the vehicle. We decided that the truck should be towed to the nearest Chevy dealership since the wheel well was broken and the ABS light was on. Once there they took a quick look at the truck and said that we needed a new rim (duuh...I drove on it for over 200 feet), the wheel well was broken, the ABS wires were probly broken, and the bumper was slightly bent. We got a rental car and FINALLY arrived at the office to fill out a bunch of paperwork.

So today I am just chilling. I have almost finished my Everlasting Bagstopper. Woot!!

Kitten Update!

So we have opened the bedroom door an d let the little kitten roam around with the other cats. My older cat, Charlie, seems to be ok with it. He hissed a few times but they are just sniffing each other. Mage, the middle cat, is oh so not happy. She is hissing and will swat still. But they aren't going after each other. All is well so far!!

Terrible Tuesdays

Well I have not been able to finish my list as of yet....
This morning I noticed that the bathroom sink was leaking. So I called that in and have been waiting for them to show up. At about 1245 I noticed I forgot my doctors appointment. I tried to call them but there was no ringing. I ran up there and they were able to umm squeeze me in.
I was able to get some knitting done and hopefully more to come

Monday, September 17, 2007

Finished!

I FINALLY finished the baby blanket for my coworker.

Yarn 023

I think it turned out pretty well. I got up early this morning to get a gift bag from walmart to put it in.

This evening Josh and I went to his friends house. His friend's cat recently had kittens. They are slightly older than a month. He cant keep them all and will have to send some to the animal shelter. I dont like that idea. Animals get sick and for dead there. So I gave in to him. Josh has been talking about the kittens since they were born. Oh the kittens this and ohh the kittens that. So we went there and I checked out the kittens and let him pic one out. We got this cute little gray tabby. Her and cats aren't getting along yet so she is chilln in the backroom all curled up and sleeping. Well I am oh so tired so I will be going to bed now. Oh crap I almost forgot I should have gone to bed early tonight.....*sigh*

Sunday, September 09, 2007

All I have left to do it the white border on *sigh* all the squares and then join them together. I am hoping to get it done today so it is off of my plate. I will post a picture of the finishing process! back to work

Sick Day!

I wish it was that exciting. I got up today and saw Josh off to his first day of work and hopped in my car to go to work to. Lots of stuff to do today! So I got there doing good. Around 10 - 1030 I started to not feel so hot. So I started over to see if I can do my work from home. On the way I got a comment "Are you feeling ok?" That is it I am going home for sure. So Im here at home feeling like crap. Might take a nap.

A little bit more....

ME: cat socks!
KELLY: Cat socks?
ME: cat socks.
KELLY: What are cat socks? Socks for your cat?
ME: I thought it was obvious.....

So I finished one cat sock. I want to try it on the cat before I make a second. (long story on why i am making them I will get into it later)

So today Josh and I went out to pick up a few outfits for his work. It wasn't too bad. We found a lot of cute polos and some pants (he couldn't wait for work to wear one of them so he threw it on and went to the bowling alley to show off his new threads (he even tucked it in...tee hee)

Thursday, August 23, 2007

Oh yeaaaaaah....

So I have been bad. I have been home all week (working out of the office) and I haven't been blogging. I am currently working on another baby blanket for a guy at my work. It is blue and white. I think the pattern is called blue sky. only a jillion more squares to crochet!

Other than that I have been focused at work. I am present some ideas to the big boss at work tomorrow. The presentation is about making corrections on figures on the computer with out printing out the figure. This will help save a lot of paper and time running back and forth to the CAD guy.

eek crocheting and preping wish me luck!

Oh BIG BIG NEWS:

Josh got the job! He will be doing tech support. His classes start on Monday! eeek! We have to go to the store and get him some busniess casual outfits this weekend!

I have survived!

This week was very hot. We only had one break from the heat and the sun and that was when a thunderstorm rolled in and lasted about an hour. Needless to say, my farmers tan is coming along nicely. One of these day I am going to have to even it out on the rest of my body. This week of field work was shortened by a day when the drillers called us saying the rig is broken. So Monday was a prep day. We left Monday evening to arrive at the hotel so we could have an early start time to make up for the loss of the day. The week was filled with lots of soil boring, some smelly and some not. The first day I ruined my seim field pants with an affected boring. Well those jeans are all field work now. Thursday night I found out that the next day, Friday, I was being moved from the boring part of the job to another job in the same area. Excavation!! Let me just say it kinda felt like Christmas but not as good. We were digging to see what the GPR survey had shown hits on. Well, First hole it was a dryer and car parts. the next three holes had a washer, a futon, rugs cushions, household garbage, and lots of scraps. The last hole had a fridge in it! Oh my was that surprising.

In the meantime of digging all of this crap up, I managed to get ants in my pants, grasshoppers in my pants, catapillers in my pants, and something else. Not sure what it was but my knees were stinging the entire day, and drive home. I also had to pee really bad so I went to the otherside of the truck, dropped my pants, and peed. When I was done I looked up and oh look I pick the area where the house across from the site had a FULL VIEW. I jumped up and pulled on my pants and my phone started to ring,, so I answer it. It is my boss... Only thing I can think of is I just peed in front of a house...... The backhoe operator thought it was hillarous..... So much that he told his boss and his bosses son that was working in another field. ha ha ha oh so funny.

I still have a morning full of work (unloading the truck and deconing my clothing)

I will end this post with a questionaire the my Secret Pal host has asked us to do (temping us to do with yarn..sock yarn shall I say)

1. What is the one knitting accessory you could not live without?
Well honestly if I did not have a knitting accessory with me I would just ask Kelly like I normally do. But since this is to get to know ME better I guess I will give it a try. A bag. I can not really borrow that from Kelly although I do know she has plenty. I love bags...bags with pockets to organize....a bag with zippers. I have stuffed small projects, like socks, in my purse in the past but I really am not a fan of that. I do have the knit picks purse set that I stole from Kelly...thanks BTW I also have a few other bags that I use that my mom made for me a while back.

2. If you're heading on vacation, do you take knitting with you? If
so, how much and what type of project?
I do take knitting with me. Pretty much where ever I go. I would take what ever I am working on unless it is scary huge. Since my work makes me travel I take knitting with me so I will use this last one as an example. I took a sock that I am working on, the boy blanket for my sweetie (which I didnt work on), and a ball of yarn in case I wanted to play. I didn't get much knitting done this last week.....tooo tired

3. Where have you travelled to that you'd consider your favorite spot?
Oh so many places, I love out West, like arches area. Also Andros Island was wonderful. Lots of prettiness. But I don't think that I would do much knitting there....

4. What is your favorite knitting book at the moment? Do you own it?
Umm I dont know if there are any *favorites* they are all special in their own way! If nyou see my amazon wish list you can see the ones that have caught my eye. The only knitting books I have are Big Book of Knitting (some of the patterns in there are well umm EEEK but it has taught me a lot) and The Cool Girls Guide To Knitting ....yes I did buy it at a reduced price. Pretty much the only reason is for the dog sweater that looks like a shark! It is going to be awesome. and no my dog doesn't normally wear sweaters but made he wants to be a shark for halloween. Eeek gotta get knitting on that!

5. Do you listen to podcasts? Which is your favorite(s)?
I do listen to pod cast. I just need to get up to date with them. There is Yarn Thing, SSK, and ummm some others tooo. I cant get into itunes ATM though.

So Easy a Caveman Could Do It

Everyone LOVE my Clapotis at work. Every time my boss would see it she would chuckle. It has been killing her that I knit and that I knitted the "Clap"

Yesterday I wanted to have my hair curly today. I thought ooh I can do some quick pin curls. When Josh got back he saw my hair and said "What the hell are you doing?!" I was sooo excited I think I might of had a dream about how they could come out (a really really good one). I drag my butt out of bed this morning and start playing with my hair. By the time I get the pin curls down my hair is a FULL fro. Well that isn't going to blow over to well. I started to wet it down......a little better. I got the straight iron out.....a little better. It isn't that frizzy anymore. I hope it can last all day. My straightened hair is already starting to recurl.

SP 11

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I am not a big fan of acrylic(despite the fact I have so much of it)...I like natural fibers.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
Right now they are all over the place. I have been trying to keep them in a box by my BIG tote of yarn but the kitten likes to drag them out.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I have been knitting for over a year now. I am a self taught knitter. I would say intermediate because there is always room to learn.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
I have many many wish lists but my Amazon is here

5. What's your favorite scent?
I like flowers and umm pretty stuff. Oh and honeysuckle!

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
Matter of fact I do. I like pretty much anything sweet. I love dark chocolate (it is good for the heart ;) )

TOMORROW I am going to go see HARRY POTTER!!! EEEEEE I am finishing up reading book 5 before it. Since I worked all last week I didn't think it was to much of a rush to finish.

Update for today : I cleaned got some (not much) laundry done today. I have been working on my harry potter sock (I am on the foot of the second one now!!!). Kelly called me asking if I wanted her to pick me up some yarn for my Clap. We saw Julie using Mircospun to make her Clap and it was AWESOME! Hopefully mine would look that good. Josh took me outside tonight to watch him light fireworks. I took lots of video of that and soon will upload it to my photo album later this week.

all about afghans...

I am known for starting projects and then getting bored with them after a while. They why do I like starting big projects like blankets. Let me just say I started these before I really knew about other yarns outside of Walmart and Michael's.

I know I have mentioned the blanket my mom made for me when I was younger. She made one for my brother and my sister as well. I couldn't decide on what colors I wanted so she made it rainbow and VERY bright. It is made out of Red Heart.
Crochet blanket

This is the first project I started on after I re picked up crocheting. This was also the first pattern I EVER tried. It took me a long time and a lot of help from Stephanie to get the pattern from curling on itself (I think I kept decreasing stitches somehow) My mom liked how this was turning out so well she took it over from me. I have yet to start working on this blanket since.
Crochet blanket

This is the Kittens in a Row. I started this blanket when my mom took the above blanket from me to work on it. I got the pattern from one of my books, however it is found online as well. It is made from simply soft.
Crochet blanket

Here is the fisherman's throw I started. It is out of Caron's one pound in soft sage. I saw this color in the store and was all ooo that is pretty *yank* Now I can not even stand to look at this color. I need to make a lot more squares to make it a decent size. These are the few squares that I have put together.
Crochet blanket

I saw this pattern in one of my books and I really liked it. It is made out of red heart. The colors make it look like fourth of july and not christmas.
Crochet blanket

To reassure you I have finished some projects but these are my big ones that have been hanging out for a while.

heh

*blush* well you see I guess it was just turned off. So well it is working now. *sigh of relief* Now I can go around and take pictures of my UFOS

*Biting lip*

Sooo yesterday we noticed on my camera (Cannon Powershot S1IS) that the LCD display wasnt working. The battery was almost dead so I figured that was the problem...After recharging the batteries it still inst working. I am off to do some recon.

OMG Stephanie you are a GENIUS....no I hadnt thought of that cuz I can tend to be a little slow on these long months LOL :(

Ok but this is a little funny cuz there is NO WAY that I would be able to do anything like that....let along walk and chew gum...
I got into work this morning and went to fill my nalgene up in the break room. The tables were rearranged and there were board games out on it. My first thought was hey maybe they don't want us to work today....just play games. I get back to my desk say something to a coworker about it. They asked me have you looked at your email....well no I hadn't. I Start up the ole puter and login. There is was an email stating their reasoning behind all of the board games.

LUNCHTIME!

Josh made me my sandwich today. Nothing too big just a Pb&J. I thought it was sweet. I didn't have to persuade him or anything of that sort. I saw him wrapping it in Al foil and I figured he didn't know where the bags were so I just finished getting ready. When I got to work Bridget and I had a good laugh about how he foiled and bagged my sandwich. Yeah it was cute. So I put it off to the side. My tummy started to grumble and I reached for the Pb&J. I took it out of the bag, unwrapped the HUGE sheet of foil, and the sandwich was suran wrapped....yes he did.

Still cute though
Seeing that everyone else is posting their house and I was not able to post my results (blogger just doesn't like any of the codes that I copy in. I am not sure what is wrong with it but there has to be since I get linked to the quizzes from other people.)

Well anyways it said that I belonged in Gryffindor. For a full reading see Kelly's blog!!

Thought I would give everyone a quick update. I am still alive!! YAY

I am currently trying to decide what purse I am going to make for the summer KAL/CAL along. There are a few I might try. I am going to use some of my *shudder* red heart on one to attempt to get rid of it!

I am on the foot of my monkey sock. I was SO happy I finished the gusset last night I did not want to go to bed. I have a few more pattern repeats to do. Hopefully I can get that punched out this week. I will take a picture hopefully later this week with the progress of it.

I have been informed by Kelly that I need to put the monkeys aside and work on the harry potter socks for the movie/book release! So I hope to start that soon seeing she is persuading me with yarn that she gave me for it.

recapping

This past Saturday was the WWKIP Day (please see Kelly's WWKIP Day Update). It was great we had a great turn out..about 15 people. We met a bunch of new people and had a few of them join us for out weekly sunday knitting group. Kelly finished her monkey socks on sunday.....I started mine over a month ago and she started hers this last week. It doesn't seem fair that I am still working on mine. It is ok I guess I can't really knit while I drive to my work sites...oh how nice that would be.

This last week I got my SP10 package! OMG it was great. The chocolate is gone. I took it with me to the WWKIP Day and forgot about it. I thought it would be a nice little treat to share figuring we would only have a few people there. Well I got all caught up in everything and forgot I threw it in my bag. The next day at knitting I was getting something out of my bag and came across it, slightly melted. We let it re solidify before we tore into it.....mmm so good. We also fondled the lovely yarn. It is wool in shades of greens...eeee...Now I just have to figure out what I want to make with it!!! There were also 2 candles, a berry one and a cookie one and also 3 things of perfume. One of Josh's friends was over when I got the package and I made him and Josh smell everything as I had it sprawled out all over the floor. It was an awesome day!

At work this week I got the wonderful assignment of overseeing septic tank removal. I was expecting it to be pretty nasty. I was happily surprised when it wasn't that bad. The worst part was when the septic truck was there emptying the tanks. I learnt a few things about septic tanks...for example, the septic tank is full when they install it and if you use 30 gallons of water it enters the tank and 30 gallons will leave the tank. EWWW I had a septic tank and I never knew that!

On sunday when I was at the local Walmart picking up random items (like cheap flip flops) I paid and was walking out and noticed a guy sitting in a wheelchair with blood on his head. I walked by processing this and stopped at the greeter and asked if this guy was ok. The greeter responded with I guess so he wanted to sit down...uhh ok. So I walk over to the guy and ask if he is ok and he said he was really tired and need to sit down. I then asked him if he knew he had blood on his head. He was shocked and was all oh no! I asked if he wanted me to help clean it up and he agreed (good thing I am first aid trained!!!) So I went in search of the Walmart first aid kit. I head to the most reasonable place it would be located at, the customer service desk. There was of coarse a line and the lady had a phone glued to her ear. I go straight to the front and ask for their first aid kit. Her response was I don't have one here I think it is up front. So I go over there and ask one of the cashiers. Her response is it is over in sporting goods. I give her this look and said No your first aid kit. There is a guy over there with blood on his head... So she trots off to ask another person. The PIC goes over to the customer service desk and brings out a small first aid kit and opens it with me and says this is all we have. There was a few Q tips and a handful of iodine packets. I look at her and said is that it. I know I had a tone in my voice too. She just stared blankly at me and I said Well I think you should get a decent first aid kit with stuff in it like gloves and maybe band aids. So I go back to the gentlemen and said I will brb I am going to get the first aid kit out of my car. I run out there and get it come back and start cleaning him up and talking. Asking if he has any past medical history. Well he has cancer and is on blood thinners. He had chemo the next day as well. So I was asking if he needed to get a hold of anyone, or his doctor. He said he was ok. Just needed to rest. So I did as much as I could offered him a water and he said no. And I left to get ready for knitting group.
(Sorry If I told you this story already...I know it is long)
The point of the story is maybe it is just my Walmart, since it is really ghetto, maybe not BUT they should have a more decent first aid kit. Makes me wonder if the other safety precautions are kept up.

Ok enough ranting....Time for dinner and bed (and maybe a bit more on the monkey socks!)

7 random things

Kelly tagged me with the 7 random things post.....the hard part will only be picking out 7 items seeing I am quite random. Here it goes:

1. When my mother was prego with me she also had a tumor in the womb. It grew at the same rate as me and I have since referred to it as my "twin" All of the doctors that my mom went to told her to abort me. However, as you can see now, she would not. She did find a doctor and he made her sign pages after pages saying that when the time came down to it if the tumor came first then the doctors would save me and not my mom. Luckily that was not the case. But it took a lot out of her and she was unable to really do anything but lay in bed the first few months I was born. My sister and dad had to take care of me mainly.

2. I was born without a hip socket. My family had to do exercises with my leg to create one. When the weather changes my hip will hurt.

3. I technically have 3 sibling. Two brothers and one sister. The oldest, Micheal Ray, is dead. He died many many years before I was even thought about. He died when his head hit the glove box in a car accident. My brother Kevin is living in HI he is almost 40 and has a whole bussell of kids. My sister, Johanna, is 33 and living in TN with three kids. I grew up with having her husband, Don, around a lot more than my brother. He normally gets thrown into my brother category.

4. I have never had a hangover. I have woken up drunk the next day and I have thrown up both the same night as well as the next. After I throw up I am perfectly fine. (ie my wendys story)

5. I was hired for my first "big girl" job (meaning I don't work hourly and there is plenty of room for growth) weeks before I graduated from college and it is even what I went to school for! Also it was also my first real job interview.

6. I am naturally a shy and very quiet person. As a kid my mom would take me to the store and forget I was there because I was so quiet. I have also gotten lost on a beach when I was 7. I wandered very far down the beach passing a few life guard stations until there was a crowd of people around one listen to a life guard talk (he was cute btw) so I stopped and he saw me came down and tried to talk to me. Since I was shy I would not say a word. I just stood there. After a while my parents found me (they thought I was with my sister but my sister wanted to go swimming with her friends so she sent me to the RV so I wouldn't get lost.....) Well I never talked to that lifeguard. The last few years I have worked very hard to try to get out of that mold. At times when I am with all new people I will go back to that quiet state.

7. I am deathly afraid of heights and roller coaster and bugs freak the crap out of me. I have been on two roller coasters and I hated both of them. I am not afraid of flying it is when you get up on a cliff and look down and the wind starts blowing. I just don't like that. I was slowing trying to get out of that funk. For the bugs....the more legs they have the worse it is. I can deal will some bugs like fire flys, lady bugs, box elder bugs, and love bugs to name a few....but most other freak me out...some spiders too.

Other random facts....
  • I scream like a girl...like the high ahhhh!
  • I hate strawberries, real cherries, and coconut, but I love strawberry and coconut flavoring and the cherries soaked in sugar and dye.
  • growing up every four years we moved
  • I hate ironing
  • I don't make my bed unless I know people are coming over
  • I do not have a green thumb. I am shocked that the 4 plants I have in the house are alive
  • I am bad about going to the post office to mail stuff....I normally send someone else to do it
  • I have only quit one job because I did not like it
  • I try to be easy to get along with but once you piss me off I will put up with you but not be social
  • If you are family or friend and I get upset just wait 5 mins and let me be pissed off...leave the room and I will be more reasonable and a lot happier
  • One of the few words of wisdom a stranger told me is no one really cares if you are happy or not so when someone asks you how you are you just say great
  • The other words of wisdom a stranger told me is no one likes to hang around sad and moppy people. If you want to have a lot of friends then you have to at least act happy.

Ok I think that is it for now. I have a lot of other random facts about me but I havent gone grocery shopping in a week and it needs to be done!

I am tagging Latice and Stephanie

Dogs don't like apples

So last night was knitting night (please see Kelly's Blog about this) Kelly got all of the pictures since I left my camera cord at the office.

I ended up downloading Skype today as well (name is knitsnbits)

Well I made my favorite apple dip for the knitting group. It is cream cheese, brown sugar, vanilla, and chopped peanuts. You dip slices of apples (dipped in lemon juice) into the dip. yum

54 is the magic number

I can not remember if I have mentioned this already or not but I have restarted the boyfriend blanket. I have decided I am not going to use the colors that he has picked out (black and dark blue). I was attempting to make a blanket out of those horrible colors. After almost a year and a half I have given up on that dream. I have a light blue and a dark/country blue yarn which I have restarted his blanket. I have decided to do the mitered square pattern.

I have taken a picture of the progress so far (2 squares), however, I have left my transfer cable for my camera at work attached to my computer. So pictures will not be uploaded until at least tues unless I get a hair up my butt and go to work this weekend.

Side note: the house we went to look at today (the 1800 sq ft one 3 bed 2 bath) was a big hit. We are going to attemt to rent it and move in to it this summer! It is an older house but it is very open with big windows!! sqee!!

Tomorrow I must go to the store and pick up supplies for knitting group. I know that I will be making apple dip (apples with a cream cheese based dip) and something else. Not sure what the something else is yet. Any suggestions are welcome!

This is the lastest yarn purchase I made. I grab this up last wed BEFORE I knew my card was stolen (I used a different card btw) sqee Just waiting for it to come in the mail :)

Update

I had three cops in my office today. It turns out that my card WAS stolen. They only charged a little over $100. It was at a raceway and a 7-11.

The cops told me what they normally do is go into office buildings and take one card out of a purse or wallet. If is a check book they will take checks out of the back or middle of the book. They will also take another item that has your name on it for identification purposes, like an insurance card. Also, they like to hit office buildings along the interstate. I was not the only one who was "hit" that day. The two girls that work with the guy said they hit a bunch of other offices that day.

Oh well....that was all the excitement I had today. One of the girls at worked noticed I have bad luck when it comes to my bank account.

I would lose my head if it wasn't bolted down

That statement would be oh so true if I did bolt my head down.

Here is my story. Gather round wee ones.

I was at Chili's with a few people from work for lunch on Monday. On Tuesday I noticed I did not have my debit card. I figured I left it at Chili's...so I called them and they went off looking for it. The next day I called again and they didn't have it so I cancelled the card. PSH 7 days for a new one. Today I got a call from my bank saying they got a call from the police department saying that they arrested a guy that had my debit card. WHAT!!! I thought it was at Chili's. This guy is known for going into office buildings and taking credit cards out of people's purses. I am not saying that this guy got it there. It could have fallen out of my purse or pocket or many other ways. But the guy got it and he is going DOWN. I am waiting for the cop (Sandi) to call me back to take with her and get all the little details.

I will keep you updated!

Other than that I am working on the same old baby blanket, big blanket, socks, and scarf.....whew that is a lot

LQTM

There has been SO much smoke around here. Hopefully some nice gusts of wind will finish clearing out the smoke. I took Friday off since was out of town for the last few weeks. It was a good day of getting some laundry done and put away. We still have a bunch more to finish. I also found my cable needle!!! WOOT I can finish my Irish hiking scarf!! My bro-in-law was in Florida and he also stopped by Friday night. We had a nice little cook out of some awesome steaks.

Saturday night we went to see Kelly interpret Grease! Yes there were a lot of songs and yes Josh did sit through the entire thing and yes he secretly enjoyed it. Every few minutes he would nudge me and say look beer....look at Kelly's face....look a car. Kelly also did an awesome job. Josh learnt a new sign (boobs). Afterward, John, Kelly, Josh, and I were going to eat at the new Wild Wings Cafe. If you have never tried it is awesome. Well it was a 45 minute wait so we walked out and look for other food. Look MEXICAN!! So we went to go eat some mexican and a margarita. Which they did put a lot of alcohol in.....not my fault!! We closed the place down. The entire way home I had to pee and Josh drove SO slow and hit every bump. We get to our complex and he goes around the block...EVIL.

Our kitten likes to try to play with our sucker fish and she fell behind the fish tank a minute ago. HA Poor fish.

Agenda for today - Shave the dog. It is in the 90's now. I don't think he needs his heavy coat.

Happy Cinco De Mayo

Since I am on the Ranch a lot I tend to have a bunch of stories and pictures. If you are lucky I might randomly call you from the ranch (when there is service). Like the time I almost ran over a baby cow, or I almost ran over a baby deer, or when someone who wasn't me almost ran over a baby gator. Lots of things tend to jump in front of or out of the way of the trucks. Another common occurance, well common as of last week, is getting stuck in the sand. Since there is a lot of dirt roads there tends to be a lot of sandy areas. Well here are a few pics

Here are a few gators along "aligator alley" at the Ranch. Normally, they are out sunning on the rocks. I am assuming that it was too hot for them that day. This last week has been extremly hot.

This little fella was running along our trucks as we were driving on the Ranch. Baby Cow crossed the road right after I took the picture. Luckily, it didn't cross while we were driving.

At the Headquarters on the Ranch we saw two deer. One is peeking out from behind the tree.

I have at least two more days at the Ranch next week. Then I get to go back to Daytona. Woot beaches I wont have time to see!

This last week was Josh's birthday. I was not able to be home for it since I spent all week working my butt off at the Ranch. To make up for that I got him an AWESOME birthday present. It is a 19 inch flat panel monitor to replace his 16 inch CRT monitor. It is so bright and pretty. I might try to steal it. I am glad I could find something seeing I had an hour to drive to the store by it and drive back all on friday after driving back from the Ranch. I even had some time to stop by Publix and get a cake and a card.

My To Do List Before Monday:

  • Do laundry / pack
  • Work on paperwork
  • Do timesheet and expenses
  • Prep for next week
  • Go to knitting
  • Work on baby blanket

I am sure there are more things I need to get done but I can't remember what they are. But for now it is going to bed.

Whew...

Lets start out by saying that I have an AWESOME tan. It is the farmers tan with an added bonus of a watch line. This tan popped up on monday. I wasn't even out side for that long. This next week I am upping my SPF 35 to SPF 70. Hopefully I can even out my tan to my shoulders.
Photo of the week is this baby gator. Isn't it cute. It was up the way from one of my sites. The boys said that they saw the momma gator before I took this picture. Well I didnt believe them since they said they hit it in the head with a rock. BTW the ditch was about 10 feet deep so we were pretty safe. There was only a small amt of water in it where the gators were. None where we were working. Good thing cuz we went into the ditch to collect samples. The only thing we saw was a dead turtle....I would show you the pic but I got it before I knew it was dead...
The Ranch wasnt too bad. Lots of work and long hours like normal. The stupid daylights savings was making us work longer hors though. We were working from 7 to about 8. With drive time and dinner we were up from 6 -11 if we were lucky.
This weekend I have slept a lot so that means not a lot of yarn time. I am going through withdrawls!
Well I am off to get ready for yarn group!

Playing catch up...

This is the finished wee irish chain baby blanket!!!!

I have a little bit of left over yarn but it will be used shortly. I have already started the next baby blanket. When I get a little more progress on it I will post a picture.

This past Sunday I went to the mall with Kelly to go to a bath and body works special morning test products and get free stuff event. I picked up a few items (a small honeysuckle lotion, and the special hand lotion) We got a free hand massage with a scrub and lotion to soften the hands and ooo it smelt good, like oranges. I got a free gift value of 45 bucks! It was two small lotions, a honeysuckle room oil, and a serum.

After our day of beauty, we walked around the mall and got into a little trouble. We found these AWESOME sunglasses. Ok honestly who would by these.....they make me look like a huge bug.

Later on that evening I went out for a night on the town. One of my coworkers divorce party. So I was the sober one that got lots of stories. lol
I got home on Sunday at about 4 am after dropping them off. The next day at about 1 pm I crawled out of bed. Then Josh started playing with the kitten. AWWW look they are both looking at the camera!!

This next week I will be out in the field, but I will have my laptop on me. The next two week I will be back on the ranch as well installing some wells! Fun! At least I will have a lot of hours.
In my quarter review I was informed that I had the third highest billiable hours (My goal was about 400 and I was over 600) in the region. So yeah that is awesome!

I squealed and ran inside and tore it open (hence the lack of before picture) It was beautifully wrapped in green tissue paper that my kitten started smelling and grabbing as soon as the package was opened. The yarn is oh so soft and a beautiful green and purple. When josh got up and saw the package he picked it up and said more.....ooooooo that is so soft! heh he is learning! I also got two count them TWO sock patterns, a bar of dark chocolate, and a box of tea. The tea is berryblossum white. This package was the best surprise EVER!

Here comes peter cotton tail hoppin down the bunny trail....

The last two weeks has been oh so busy. This has been my first day that i didnt have to get up early or do anything. So what did I do. I will tell you....I got my butt up out of bed this morning before 9 am and CLEANED. Like not just clean but like deep cleaning. I moved things around and threw labout 4 more boxes of crap I dont need away. I also got my computer desk and put that all together in the front room. I re organized the back bedroom. It is still full of boxes but it is a little bit better. All that is left is the bathroom kitchen and a ton of laundry. But it is ok I have all tomorrow for that too.

Yes I am still working on that freakin baby blanket. I HAVE to have it done my tomorrow the latest. That is when they are having the baby shower for the guy.

Other than the baby blanket I have not worked on anything else. Once this blanket is done I think I am going to try to organize all of my yarn. I might also pick up a blanket I was making a while ago and work on it. It is a crocheted blanket that I started making like 5 yrs ago. My mom wanted to work on it a little too so I stopped to let her do some. I might as well try to get it finished. Maybe Josh will like to use it....or maybe I will keep it for myself!!!!

Hope everyone has a good easter!!

why do you ask?

I guess this week I have been a little off. I was not aware of it. Mornings I have been out of the office on site. Everyone there has been asking me if I am feeling alright. I thought I was but I guess they didn't think so. Maybe I was a little tired.

I had some yarn pirate in my cart from theloopyewe.com and someone STOLE it!!!!

I am going to bed now.....

btw Tonight Planet Earth started on the Discovery channel and it is pretty cool. Check it out. Yeah I am tired a bird came on the show and I confused the beak with the head.....WOW

Extra Extra!

This is the baby blanket I am making for Josh's coworker. This will be the center of the blanket and it will have a thick green border and then a white border. This is crocheted by the way. I got the pattern from Our Best Baby Afghans. The pattern is called the wee irish chain. I am using bernat softee baby yarn in mint and white.
His coworker doesn't know if they are having a girl or a boy so I picked green. Green can go either way just like the kid! lol This is the first project I have made diagonally. It is pretty cool I can't wait to see how it turns out. I love the design!
The only bad thing about this pattern is that the finished size is 33 x 33. I think that is pretty small. I was going to expand the pattern but my deadline got shortened by a week. I think I will making it bigger by putting more rounds around the border!
I better go and finish making it before it is too late!
